Whats happening in Year 9

22 June 2017

From the Residential Head of Year 9 - September 2017

We were lucky enough to have the Western Force come down for an open training session on the Scotch playing fields on Friday 23rd June. The players interacted with the boys and helped them with their session. Great to see Zedd, Hamish, Sam Meecham and Tiarell in the photo above.

"It's on like Ping Pong"

The continual games of "2 Up" on the Ping Pong table seem to be a favourite game with the boys. There is always a battle going on and new champions rise daily. Great fun!!

Around The House

The Recreation Program has been in full swing this term with Year 9 boys being involved in the following: Wonder Woman movie @ Innaloo Cinemas, Perth College Social, Mini Golf @ Wembley Golf Course, Ice Skating Xtreme @ Mirrabooka, St. Mary’s Trivia night, St. Hilda’s River Cruise on the Swan River, and Roller Skating @ Morley Rollerdrome.

The Well Being Program, co-ordinated by Ashley Keatch has progressed well and will continue next term.

We had Patrick’s 15th birthday celebration on Tuesday 6th June where the boys got loud, singing happy birthday and had a laugh as Indi (house dog) joined in. We continued the birthday celebrations as we celebrated Zedd’s birthday with chocolate fondue, which included fruit and shortbread biscuits. Zedd’s birthday was made extra special when his mum, sister and Nonna stopped by.

The boys have been fine tuning their skills in the kitchen utilising our very useful toasted sandwich maker. They have made french toast, pancakes, sushi, bagels and BLT's. (Hopefully this means you are off cooking duties for the holidays!) A big thanks to the Humphris family for providing the house with some eggs fresh from the farm!

Our next newsletter will be after the holidays so if you have any great holiday snaps of your boy, please email them to fran.hannington@scotch.wa.edu.au

We look forward to seeing some great snaps!

Year 9 Car Cleaning Service

The boys decide that they would like to earn some pocket money and came up with the idea of detailling cars. We are offering the service to the boarding community for $30 a car, inside and out. Our first customer was Mrs Hannington and the boys did a great job. Mrs H barely recognised her car when she came outside. Everything was cleaned ...... even the cup holders! The boys worked in pairs under the supervision of our fantastic Residential Mentors. If you are interested in having your car detailled, please book with Mrs Fran Hannington.

Farewell George

We say farewell to George Lockhart at the end of Semester 1 as he will be returning to Scotland and his family. George has been with us for the first half a year and has been a great addition to the house. He was always active, energetic and entertaining.

Thank you George we will miss your energy and your spark around the house.

P.S I hope they have 'Milo' back in Scotland for you !!!

Mini Golf

The boy's had a great evening at the Wembley Golf Course in a beautiful setting with loads of cheering amongst the groups. The loudest was from Pippa Lockhart who managed to score 2 hole in ones. We then returned to the house for some delicious Dominoes pizza. A special thank you to Pippa for supplying the Pizza. The boys really enjoyed it!
